alterarosa enjoys sponsorship from JARDILAND
FOUNDING PARTNER of the event, JARDILAND provides this prestigious event with its savoir-faire
The alterarosa rose show is an event created by the City of Avignon. The show has benefited from the very start from the support and expertise provided by Jardiland. The first step in this long-reaching program was the creation of an outstanding rose given to the city of Avignon by Jardiland.
This led to the official launching on 20 May 2004, of the rose christened Palais des Papes® DORAVIG, created by François Dorieux and christened in the prestigious palace itself.
Madame Marie-Josée Roig, former Minister and Mayor of Avignon, and Mr. Boris Cyrulnik, author of several books and consultant in ethology, are the sponsors of this new rose.
In 2005, at the time of the first edition of alterarosa , Jardiland confirmed its commitment, alongside the city of Avignon, to create an event whose purpose was to develop and promote roses, both as flowers and plants, the art of arranging cut roses, and every aspect of roses, contributing to the decoration and embellishment of the both the house and the garden. With alterarosa, Jardiland, the leader in specialized garden centres, widely recognized for its gardening expertise and savoir-faire, once again encourages meetings with the general public to stimulate and nourish the passions of the increasing number of enthusiastic amateur gardeners.
alterarosa is sponsored by the Société Française des Roses
alterarosa acknowledges the prestigious support provided
by this great organisation of rose professionals.
Founded in 1896 in Lyon, the cradle of modern roses, the members of the Société Française des Roses include both rose professionals and amateurs. The activities conducted by the Société Française des Roses, today presided by Mr. Maurice JAY, include the International Competition of New Roses held each year on the first Friday in June. These trials are attended by the world’s leading creators of new garden roses. The trial gardens are located within Lyon’s beautiful “Parc de la Tête d’Or”.
The Société Française des Roses also participates in organising the biennial trials reserved for perfumers, in Nantes, where the prize is awarded by a jury of international perfume makers which includes some of the best “noses” in the world. Several members of the society are active jury members for French and Europen trials, and their opinions are highly respected.
The Société Française des Roses publishes the yearly review, “Les Amis des Roses”, which discusses every aspect on the subject of roses and presents the
results of the European trials and the new roses placed on the market during the year.
