In the headlines: Altera rosa
7th  edition – 2 to 5 June 2011

The most romantic of flowers takes over the Palace of the Popes throughout the entire Ascension Holiday weekend – over 2000 rosebushes, among them the latest creations by the greatest rose breeders – on display in the Benedict XII Cloister, in a profusion of roses.

Also, conferences, demonstrations, floral art workshops for all ages …
This year’s celebration of roses shares the spotlight with Solanum species.
The guest association is the Laurette Fugain association, for leukemia, platelets donors, bone marrow and research on blood diseases. A rose will be created and christened for this association, and the profits from its sales will benefit the association. This special rose weekend is also sponsored by Jardiland.

Guided visit (in french only)
alterarosa also offers a guided visit to the oldest garden in Avignon, the Rocher des Doms, to the pontifical gardens at the Palace of the Popes, seldom open to the public, and to the splendid small garden at Notre Dame des Doms cathedral, open to the public for the very first time.
Your guide will discuss the symbolism of flowers, focusing on the rose. After the guided visit, enjoy discovering the many facets of the alterarosa exhibit.
